When registering for our workshop you agree to the following policies (please read carefully):

  • Materials cannot be taken home to complete projects. *Glazing (pottery painting) time is not included and must be booked separate. Please allow at least 7 days for pieces to be ready for glazing, we hold pieces for a max of 45 days. No credits or refunds after booking, not transferrable.
  • Family workshops: A paid adult participant is required for ages 6-12, maximum 2 children per adult. Every person attending must have a ticket, no observers. We recommend ages 7 and up for all POTTERY workshop participants, children ages 6-7 might need more of the accompanying adults assistance to complete the projects.
  • Our adult (ages 15+) studio times are Thursdays and Fridays after 5:30pm, and Saturdays and Sundays after 3:30pm. During other workshop times, we usually have a mix of kids and adults. Please note that weekend kids and families times are lively (and sometimes a little noisy!) with birthday parties happening in the studio!
  • At our studio we specialize in beginner-friendly pottery, and part of the learning process is understanding that clay can be unpredictable! Occasionally, pieces may not make it through the kiln as expected due to the nature of ceramics, regardless, we encourage you to embrace the experience - every step, success or surprise, is part of the creative journey!

 

Workshop Details

These wonderful trees will make a beautiful addition to your holiday mantle, brighten a window sill or make a beautiful conversation piece displayed in your holiday tablescape. Create a cherished keepsake, inspired by the majestic snow-dusted trees of winter.

First, sculpt your tree from clay and learn the techniques we use to decorate them and make them your own. Return to add the shiny glaze once they're fired in the kiln.

Timeline

1. Build & Sculpt: 1 hour of building and an extra 30 minutes for smoothing, if needed. Create using our clay and we will dry and fire the clay in the kiln.

2. Glaze: Return to the studio to add the beautiful glazes. Book at least one week after your build date. We recommend booking 1 hour, depending on the amount of detail :)

3. Pickup: We will fire it again in the kiln. In approximately 14 days after glazing, it’ll be ready for pick up.

Workshop FAQs

Clay 101

The most important thing to remember when working with clay is to relax and enjoy the process of making hand made art! Clay is like magical mud for creating fantastic pottery and cool ceramics. First, you shape it into whatever you want. Then it has to air dry and go into a super-hot oven called a kiln, where it gets fired at really high temperatures (around 1,200°C!). After it’s been fired once it’s ready for the colourful and clear glazes! Finally. it gets fired again to cure the glazes to the clay.
